With reference to Mr. Halcolm MacDonald's

despatch Ho. 350 of 29th August, 1935, regarding the use

of Arc Suppression Coils on the electricity system of

the China Light and Power Company, Limited, in Hong Kong,

I have the honour to enclose a copy of a Government

Notification containing amendments to paragraph (17) of

regulation 13 of the Regulations made under the Electricity Supply Ordinance, 1911, the effect of which

is to legalise the use of such apparatus. The China

Light and Power Company, Limited, has been informed that

there is no objection to the use of Petersen Arc Suppression

Coils on their New Territories 22 K.V. Transmission Line.

ORDINANCE No. 18 of 1911.

(ELECTRICITY SUPPLY).

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 (2) of the Electricity Supply Ordinance, 1911, the Governor in Council amends paragraph (17) of regulation 13 of the Regulations for Securing the Safety of the Public as set forth in Government Notification No. 354 published in the Gazette of the 13th June, 1930, as follows:-

or harmless to human beings or animals are inserted in the said paragraph (17) of regulation 13 in the following places:-

(a) In the first sentence thereof, immediately after the words Adequate means shall be provided to render any line conductor dead ".

(b) At the end thereof, immediately after the words "which make the line dead".
